Projects, Notifications & Spell Learning

Learn about these new features coming to Untold Dawn.

We have implemented a completely new system for learning spells in Untold Dawn.

The process has been built on top of a very dynamic and flexible projects system (which can be accessed with the project command).

Spell Learning

The flow of learning a spell goes like this:

You beseech the Light or the Aurivor to grant you knowledge of a new spell, at one of the places the Aurivor / Light feel most comfortable.

The Aurivor gives you preliminary insight which you need to look into. You have to go to a digital library to try to read any of the old papers written 50 - 40 years ago on the matter. You might learn stuff that no other mage gets in this stage.

Finally, once that is done, you have a final scene where you present your findings and any doubts you might have to the Aurivor or the Light, and they help you conclude your studies, which normally is a process that might have serious natural effects on the world.

How It Works

Most of the system is automated besides the parts that really depend on roleplay, such as the animations of the Light and the Aurivor – although that can also be granted through the request tool if staff can’t find a joint time.

You have a study system which lets you gain insight into various things regarding the spell. Libraries will not only be for mages. Many professions will require you to go research stuff at a digital library – and investigations will also require that too.

The project system is a WIP that has a lot of hooks for more stuff, such as inviting other people, having material demands, etc. We believe this system will be central to many long-term endeavors people have.
